Increase in WC A competitions –
Widespread interest in the cube began in 1980.
1982 hosted the first Rubik’s Cube world championships which was held in Budapest, Hungary.
The event had 19 competitors.

Because the Rubik’s Cube craze died down for many years afterwards, it wasn’t until 2003 when the next World Championships was held.
Since 2003 there has been a yearly increase of the amount of Rubik’s Cube competitons worldwide.
By 2009 there was about 17 Rubik’s Cube Competition’s Worldwide.
Individuals from all countries are allowed to enter these competitions anywhere in the world.

By 2010 just the UK alone held at least 2 competitions annually.
By 2013 there was about 350 Rubik’s Cube Competition’s Worldwide.
Today in 2017 I estimate that there’s about 600 Rubik’s Cube competitions worldwide.

Some of the reasons for these increases in competitions is that they raise money and many more people have become involved in speed cubing.
Furthermore many more countries have also become involved in speed cubing.

Interest in the Cube also emerged because of the invention of the internet which led to speed cubing sites and tutorial sites. These led to a growing international online community. Then this led to certain top speed cubing figures creating more speed cubing competitions.
The revival of competition sparked a new wave of organized speed cubing events which included regular national and international competitions.
There were 12 competitions in 2004, 58 more from 2005 to 2006. Over 100 in 2008.There were over 880 in 2017, with more happening every year. Rubik’s Cube World Championships are held every other year. The last World Championships was held in Paris, France, in 2017.

W C A Disciplinary Committee
The W C A Disciplinary Committee is (W D C).
This board investigates lots of incidents and punishes people when necessary. They punish people for serious violations of W C A regulations or community issues. You will be punished by the (W D C) if you’re found guilty of cheating in competition. They also deal with issues that may occur in the W C A internally.

If there are any violations at competitions a W C A official will contact the W D C to investigate and deal with it. A competitor is able to email the W D C directly. The W D C has to decide whether any complaint falls under their jurisdiction.
The team corresponds with all parties involved fairly and without prejudice. They inform all the parties involved of any decisions of theirs.

W C A Financial Committee
The W C A Financial Committee (W F C) deals with finances within the W C A.
They deal with the finances and accounts of the W C A. In addition they also pay invoices and taxes that are aimed at the W C A with the permission of the W C A Board.
The committee regularly informs the W C A Board of all the W C A’s finances. They make the W C A aware of the options the W C A has for the W C A’s financial possibilities.

W C A Regulations Committee
The W C A Regulations Committee is (W R C) .This was founded to help the W C A Board in maintaining the W C A Regulations in 2011. Today they now also help the improvement and development of the W C A Regulations.
They give support to delegates at competitions on procedural matters. The W R C also encourages members of the W C A community to create and maintain translations of the Regulations.

W C A Results Team
The W C A Results Team is (W R T). This group deals with the management of all data in the databases of the W C A. It mainly focuses on competition results and person data. They mostly post results of W C A competitions to the W C A website.

They check to see if the results were submitted correctly. The W C A Results Team have the responsibility of correcting competition results if necessary. Their duty is also to administer all W C A profile pages.
This includes changing user data such as dates of birth, according to verified requests and dealing with profile picture requests.

W C A Software Team
The W C A are always making improvements to their website regularly. The W C A website is now able to be accessed in various languages. People can now register at the W C A website easier than previously.
The W C A team continually keep a careful watch of the website all the time to make sure it’s available. They are keen to deal with any problems within the website.
The Software Team develops new software for various tasks within the W C A whenever needed.

People can translate the website into their language by using the websites app. The W C A designed the W C A Workbook assistant. This is used by delegates to send the competition results to the W C A Results Team.
The Software Team also updates the official W C A Scrambler, T Noodle, according to data provided by the W C A Regulations Committee if changes are needed. Additionally they maintain and develop administrative tools for various Delegates, Committees and Board members on the W C A website.

W C A Delegates
W C A Delegates are responsible for running W C A competitions correctly by following all the procedures. There are three different kinds of Delegates which are W C A Senior Delegates, W C A Delegates and W C A Candidate Delegates.
A W C A Delegate must be present at all the competitions. A W C A Senior Delegate is above a W C A Delegate. The W C A Senior Delegate is responsible for dealing with the community over regional matters.

They also mentor the delegates in their area. All new delegates start off as W C A Candidate Delegates. If they show that they can run competitions successfully and in the right manner they will be promoted to a W D A Delegate.
In some cases a W C A Candidate Delegate, delegates his first few competitions aided by more senior delegates, to learn to delegate a W C A competition quicker. All the delegates are listed on their official websites.

Conclusion
The bodies of the World Cube Association all deal with issues relating to Rubik’s Cube competitions. It is a very well organized association and a person knows exactly who they need to contact in any situation.
